So Many Questions?

Yesterday when Chelsey came home from church, she told me that she knew why Rix (the baby we lost) didn't come to live with us.
me: Why?
her: because he wanted to stay in heaven with Eve.
Now, I had to think about that for a minute. Did she learn that Eve was the first woman and mother on earth, or where was this coming from. So, I just said no, he staid in heaven to live with Heavenly Father and with the other people in our family that are in heaven.
her: oh, ok.
We had family home evening and yesterday she brought home from church a picture of the earth, a boy a girl, Heavenly Father and Jesus, and a man. She wanted to use those and give the FHE lesson. Great!!! So, she gets all the people and she is telling us who they all are. She calls the man, who has a beard and a mustache Eve. I was a little confused and told her that was a man, Eve was a woman. Then I listened to her story. She told us how when we were in heaven we all decided that we wanted to follow Jesus and Heavenly Fathers plan. But some people chose to follow Eve. Then I realized that she was calling Satan, Eve. So Riley and I explained to her that it was not Eve and it was Satan. Then I thought of the conversation that we had about Rix wanting to live with Eve. I told Riley about our conversation and we began explaining to Chelsey that Satan was a mean person and wanted people to do the wrong things and not come to earth and live. But when we were in Heaven we were a family and we all chose to follow Jesus, even Rix. He was just so good that he didn't need to come to earth and be tested. Heavenly Father needed Rix to stay in heaven and teach all the people there who needed to learn more about Him. She was satisfied with it. Then after a little while she wanted to know why, why couldn't Rix come and be part of our family and why did he have to stay there when the rest of us are here and why do we not remember Rix or Heavenly Father. Keep in mind that Chelsey is 6 years old, but knowledgeable beyond her years. So we tried to answer all her questions as best we could. Then I look at Corbin, and his eyes are welling up with tears. I asked him if he was ok, he said talking about Rix makes me want to cry. So, I told him it was ok, and I joined him. I have 2 feelings about this whole situation. How blessed are we that we have this experience and that we have something that we can teach our children and make it personal to them and relate to them. But also, why do my children need to experience this and have these questions for something that is so personal to them. I feel both sides of the double edge sword. However, I am grateful for all the blessings that this experience has brought to my family.

  2. What a great example of taking advantage of teaching moments in everyday life. Good job, Tricia. Chelsea and Corbin are just growing up so fast . . .
