Year in Review!

I was reading my friend Liz's blog and saw this, I thought it was really fun and wanted to play too! So here goes:
  1. What did you do in 2007 that you have never done before? I found out I was pregnant, just 3 months after having a baby. We bought a house the end of 2006, so there were many first Holidays in our own home, and all the fun and exciting things that come along with being a home owner!
  2. Did you keep your New Years Resolution, and will you make more for this year? I do not make New Years resolutions, I think that I have said this before, failure is not an option for me, so rather than be disappointed that I didn't keep them, I just don't make them.
  3. Did anyone close you give birth? Am I close enough to myself to count. I also had a few friends give birth this year!
  4. Did anyone close to you die? This year was a pretty good one for me as far as deaths go, I cannot think of one person.
  5. What countries did you visit? We have a few little situations that prevent us from doing a whole lot of traveling! The first being $$, who could imagine that it takes so much money to have so much fun! The other, we have 4 kids that make it a little hard to travel!
  6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? wow, the thing that comes to mind most, is time. Time to sit and enjoy my children, time to enjoy life, and time to be with people who I love and appreciate, extra time with Riley, time to breath!
  7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory and why? February, when I finally admited that I was pregnant. July, when we went to Newport Beach CA, August when Kaylix was born. November when I turned 30, and December, for it being a great Christmas.
  8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Right now, starting and finishing anything is a huge acheivement! Our house is still under construction since October, my basement is a huge mess, I took all the toys out of the kids rooms and dubbed the family room, the play room, so I bought a big cabinet and bins and put all the toys out there, we are still sorting through things and trying to get them all put away. Even every day tasks, like finishing the mountain of laundry that I have every week is huge for me!
  9. What was your biggest failure? I think not really letting all my kids and my husband know every day how much I love and appreciate them, sometimes I nag more than I encourage! I need to work on that!
  10. Did you suffer illness or injury? No, thank goodness! Unless of course you count loss of sanity as an illness!
  11. What was the best thing you bought? 2007 was not a big purchase year for us, but I guess the best thing I bought was all the materials that we needed to finish the bathroom and Corbins room so there were no more excuses of "If I only had everything here, than I could get this done." Well, the things are here, and it is still not done, we chalk this one up to lack of time!
  12. Whose behavior merited celebration? I would have to say my mom. She has been so helpful to me. She always comes over and helps me, she even just sits with my babies while I clean my house! I tell her all the time how much I appreciate her, but I hope she really knows that I know, I wouldn't make it through most of my days without her help.
  13. Whose behavior made you appalled or depressed? I cannot think of anyone, that's good right!
  14. Where did most of your money go? Our money was spent on house payments, utility bills, groceries, and clothes for the kids. Also, any other debt that we have, which we have a lot of!
  15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? I was so excited when we got grass in our back yard and I could send the kids out to play and they were safe in my back yard. I was also excited at all the new growth of our family this year.
  16. What song will always remind you of 2007? Boy, this is hard. I don't listen to very much music. If there was a song about going crazy and loving every second of it, then that would be my song.
  17. Compared to this time last year are you a) happier or sadder? happier b) Thinner or fatter? Thinner, I'm not pregnant! C) richer or poorer) there is a little more money coming in, but there is also one more person in our family, so we are about the same!
  18. What do you wish you'd done more of? laughing and loving and showing appreciation to everyone
  19. What do you wish you'd done less of? waiting for things to happen for me and go out and make them happen. Make my own life less hectic, make my own time, make myself do things that I dread.
  20. How did you spend Christmas? the best way, surrounded by family that we love and who love us.
  21. Did you fall in love in 2007? I think that every day I fall more on love with every person in my family, seeing them grow and develop and become great people makes me love them even more!
  22. Do you hate anyone now, that you didn't hate this time last year? Wow, I try not to hate anyone, life is to short to waste time and energy on hating someone. Besides, it just makes your life miserable, not theirs.
  23. What was your favorite tv program? Every night before Riley and I go to bed, we watch Scrubs reruns, they are on 2 different channels and we love it!
  24. What was the best book you read? I have said it before, I am not much of a reader, but for Christmas I got a book called "Wednesdays Letters" I started reading it, but have not picked it back up for a while, I will have to read it and report!
  25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Hum, I am not musical, but I appreciate music and how I can turn it on and all the kids will dance around the room and have a good time!
  26. What did you want and get? I wanted so many things this year, but the best thing that I wanted was a happy and healthy baby, and I got that.
  27. What did you want and not get? I cannot think of anything. Actually, I wanted the basement mess done, but it isn't.
  28. What was your favorite film of this year? I know it is pathetic and I admit that I am lame, but High School Musical 2 is the new favorite of our house. I also got Hairspray for Christmas and I love it.
  29. What did you do on your birthday and how old were you? I turned 30 this year and I had a fun filled day with lots of family and friends.
  30. What one thing would have made your year immeasureably more satisfying? Having more $$ and less debt
  31. How would you describe you fashion concept for 2007? Well, I spent half of it wearing maternity clothes. Which I bought myself more fashionable and cute clothes than I have normally, after all I was pregnant the last 2 summers. I told Riley, this summer I want a whole new wardrobe because I will not be pregnant
  32. What kept you sane? Who said anything about being sane. Riley reminds me all the time, that I am just one step away from becoming insane.
  33. Which Celebrity/public figure did you fancy most? I am not one to fancy anyone public. I get bored of seeing them on TV I get bored of them raising controversy just to be recognized, I am already sick of all the presidental hopefuls and I can't wait for them all to be gone.
  34. What political issue stirred you the most? I can't think of one. Here is an issue at our school that right now I am trying to figure out how to correct it. If your student is Tardy, then during lunch, they have to sit at the "Tardy Table". While there, they are not allowed to talk to anyone and they have to stay at the table the whole time. Luckily, my children have never had to sit there, but I always understood that one of the reasons you send children to school is for them to develop a sense of worth and self esteem. So, why is the school belittling them? Everyone knows which table is the tardy table and they can see who is sitting there. How demeaning to the children who have to sit there. I also firmly believe that when a child is in elementary school , it is the parents responsibilty to have that child there and on time, so why punish the child for something that the parents should be responsible for. Soapbox moment!
  35. Who did you miss? Fortunately, most of my family live close by and those that don't visited often this year. So, I don't really think that I have missed anyone. Except some days I miss Riley! I wish he were home more often.
  36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007: I learned to not take things so seriously. But I also learned that some things need to be taken more seriously. I also learned that I need my family a lot!
  37. Who was the best new person you met? My sis-in-law Jen! I think that she is a saint for marrying my brother! Not that I don't love him more than anything, but I am glad that she does too! Love ya Ty!
  38. Quote a song Lyric that sums up your year: I don't know the whole song, but there is a line that just says, "under pressure". I feel like there is so much going on in my day and the pressure to complete it all is overwhelming, but I rarely accomplish all that I set out to do during my day!

Well, that was fun!!!! Hope you enjoyed it too!!!!

  1. I love it! FYI: "Under Pressure" is a collaboration between two musical geniuses: Queen and David Bowie. Very good choice. Also, I agree with you on the Tardy Table issue. That is ridiculous. Haven't they ever heard "Praise in public, scold in private?"
