I have some pictures to blog, but those will have to wait for another day, tonight, I just have a little rambling to do!!!
As I sat watching the presidential inauguration, I was amazed for 2 reasons, one Bro-in-Law Jason was there, what an amazing thing to have been a part of, and second, I can't really remember having ever watched an inauguration. I am sure that many people watched it and were glued to the TV just like I was. I am not a political person, I have to admit, that I didn't even vote.
I also like to think of myself as a pretty open minded person. I try not to judge a person for the color of their skin or the lines on their faces. I know and love many friends and family of different races and religions and walks of life. I was not watching the inauguration because the new president is a person of a different color. I watched it because I felt a tie to it since Jason was there.
I have been amazed at all the things that have been said negatively about the president and about his family. I think that each person is entitled to live their life the way they see fit. There is just one person who they have to answer to, and that time will come for them also. Although running for president you do put it all out there for people to judge you, and judge you they do.
This morning on The View, they were talking about the new president and about all the things that are happening. 2 of the co-hosts got in a little tiff, then one of them looked at Whoopi and asked her what she thought, she simply said, "I think that yesterday, I watched an American become President." Pure and simple. And I couldn't help but think, how true. People make such a big deal over race and religion (hence Mitt Romney not making it further in the race) but, really, why. Aren't we all just one people, one nation under God.
I am excited to see the things that can and will come from the new younger president. I am hopeful for things to come and for things to look better, and I am saddened by all the things that are out there saying otherwise.
